Healthy Bodies

Flu & Cold Season is Upon Us!
But the Fox class is prepared!

Firstly,
Happy Birthday,
Hal!

This week we learned all about how to keep our bodies healthy and our germs to ourselves. We started off the unit with a visit from Nurse Sarah! She taught us about germs and how to keep them off our hands. She read the book: The Super Squad Battle Against Germs and then showed us 'germs' we had on our hands with a special light. It was not good!

Then she taught us a special song to sing when we rub soap on our hands.
(sung to tune of Are You Sleeping)
Tops and Bottoms

Washing all Over

Now Their Clean

Other songs you can sing are the ABC's or Happy Birthday!
Then we all took turns washing our hands while singing the songs!

We also learned all about our hearts! Our hearts help keep the insides of our bodies healthy by pumping blood all through our bodies. We used a stethoscope to hear our heart beats before and after jumping on the trampoline . We learned that they beat louder and faster the more our bodies move:

We painted hand prints on paper and the next day added germs to our fingers. We then counted the number of germs we added and wrote the corresponding number at the top of the page:

We practiced writing our names in boxes to help us with the size of our letters:

We pretended our slime was germs sticking to our hands!

We sequenced how to wash our hands and drew pictures in our journals of what we think germs look like:

We nailed our fire drill this week and had a blast in the garden!

In Art with Miss Tara we added leaves to the backgrounds we made last week:

Have you heard about our mystery iceberg yet?!
The class has been obsessed with finding out what is inside. We introduced two new vocabulary words for this science experiment: Dissolve & Expand. We discussed how the iceberg is dissolving more and more each day while submerged in water. And when the shell dissolved enough to see what was hiding inside we noticed that the object was expanding!
Mystery item: An Owl or Polar Bear...we can't seem to decide lol!

Next week: FALL!
Have a wonderful weekend!
